Message from the Founder

During my high school years, the prevailing advice, including from my grandparents Henry and Rosie Dobbins, was to pursue a college education. They emphasized the importance of securing my future through education, and I heeded their counsel.

Understanding this struggle, my grandfather, despite suffering a stroke two weeks prior, made a heartfelt gesture before my departure for college. Despite being paralyzed on one side, he asked my grandmother to provide me with $50 from his wallet. That seemingly modest sum meant the world to me. As I embarked on my college journey, I quickly realized that many students, like myself, were compelled to take out loans not just for tuition, but also for basic necessities. It became evident that my grandfather’s gift wasn’t about the amount, but rather the recognition of the financial challenges I would face.

Though my grandfather never witnessed my graduation, he and my grandmother left me with profound lessons on the importance of giving back. In honor of their legacy, I am excited to introduce HenRose Cares.

Now is our opportunity to support this generation, just as my grandparents, parents, and other loved ones supported me. By collectively contributing, no matter the amount, we can create significant impact. Every donation towards laptops, gas, or groceries lessens the burden on students, sparing them from unnecessary visits to the financial aid office, stress, sleepless nights, and more

Please consider supporting a student’s journey. Whether it’s $5, $10, or $50, your generosity can help not only in getting a student to college but also in seeing them through to graduation.

Sincerely,

Tanisha Luckett
