Short Story
Hi everyone! My name is Oriana, I am from St. Louis, Missouri, and I am a senior pre-dental student majoring in biology at Tuskegee University. I am creating this campaign because I need funding to assist me in paying for my dental school applications.

My education is very important to me! I always work hard and push myself to be the best student I can be. In high school I maintained a 3.5 GPA and due to this I was able to receive the Merit Scholarship at Tuskegee University. This scholarship along with the full Pell Grant, and other grants and scholarships have allowed me to pay for my college education. Without that funding my family would not have been able to afford the costs of university so for that I am grateful. Since I have been in college, I have maintained a 3.80 GPA all while participating in clubs and volunteering on campus. My college education has provided me with so many wonderful experiences and has taught me many great lessons that I will take with me as I move forward with my education upon graduation next Spring.
After I graduate college in May 2022, I plan to start Dental school the following fall semester, but I need help to do so. To apply to dental school and get accepted into the incoming class for next fall I must pay many fees. The largest fee I must pay is for my dental school application which is due in August. The costs for the application alone are very high, as you should apply to at least 10 to 13 schools to have a better chance of getting accepted. This is because getting into dental school is extremely competitive. The American Dental Association charges $251 dollars for the first school on the AADSAS application and $108 dollars for each additional school that is added to that same application. For me to apply to 13 schools I would need $1,547 dollars plus around an additional $1000 dollars since most dental schools charge a supplemental application fee of around $75 dollars each (with a few being lower and a few being higher). This brings my total costs to over $2500 dollars. When I get accepted into dental school, I will also have to pay a deposit ranging from $500 dollars to $2000 depending on the school.
I will have to use my own savings that I obtained from unemployment and work-study to pay for my dental school applications. My family cannot afford to pay for all these costs. The only reason that I was able to get study materials for the Dental Admissions Test was because I got accepted to Detroit Mercy Dental’s Summer Enrichment Program where they assisted minorities like me in studying for the DAT by paying for a study program and helped us fill out applications. I paid for my Dental Admissions Test with my own savings, and it cost $459 dollars. Between my undergraduate schooling and Dental applications there are many high costs. Assistance with these costs would be a huge blessing. If you all could assist me in raising funds for my application, I will be able to matriculate into dental school and become the doctor that I have always wanted to be. Anything will help!
Thanks again for assisting me!
Updates: 8-7-2021- HenRose Cares will be covering the remaining balance of $1,044. Thank you to all who donated to support our scholar.
